Speed Dating at The Durell Arms Fulham
What happens when I arrive?
When you get to the venue, you’ll be greeted by one of the Im Yours Team, simply let them know your name, and you will be registered. You’ll be given a name badge, pen and a score card, and allocated a number. Before the dating starts is a great time to relax into your surroundings, chat to the other people at the event and enjoy a drink on us!
The dating
Just before the dating starts, your host will explain what’s going to happen and ask you to take your seats. Normally the women are seated and the men rotate around the tables every 3 minutes. Your host will ring a bell to signal that it’s time to move on at the end of each date. Once each date has finished remember to mark on your scorecard if you’re interested in seeing the date again. The dating normally takes around 2 and a half hours, and includes a half time break
After the event
When the dating has ended, people often stay behind to mingle, chat and enjoy a few drinks- after the event is a great opportunity to strike up a conversation with anyone who you’ve really hit it off with! Don’t forget to take your scorecard home with you so you can register who you were interested in on the Im Yours speed dating website- and be matched with the people who also liked you! You’ll be able to make email contact with anyone who attended the event on the event on our secure website.
What if I can’t make it?
If you’re not able to come along to the event please do let us know as soon as possible. We will try to change your booking to an alternative event, but we do need at least 24 hours notice. We can alter your booking if a friend of the same gender wants to attend instead of you. Please call us if you need to arrange this.
As long as you let us know you let us know more than five working days before the event we can move you to another event for no additional charge, a £7 charge applies if we move you to another event up until 1 working day before the event is due to take place.
Im Yours Speed Dating Tips
Obviously you want to make a good impression, so it’s a good idea to look your best, but don’t go over the top- you also want to feel comfortable. Some people come straight form work, so office wear is fine too!
Don’t have too much to drink! It’s understandable to be a bit nervous, but too much dutch courage can leave you leave you with a hangover and no ticks! Try not to get carried away, especially before the dating starts. We also suggest you have something to eat before you arrive so you’re not drinking on an empty stomach.
Remember that during the evening, every person will be on a date with you, plus 19 other members of the opposite sex, so things can get a bit repetitive everyone is asking and answering the same types of questions- stand out from the crowd and be the one that’s remembered by planning some interesting topics of conversation. We do recommend steering clear of polictis, religion and swearing though! Remember it’s a date and not a debate.
Please treat everyone at the event with respect and be polite, even if you are struggling to find things to talk about or you’re really not interested. We want our events to be as enjoyable as possible and this can be achieved if everyone is friendly to one another. We also ask that you wait until you’re moving on from or waiting for your next date before marking your score card.
(We also request that you do not use your mobile phone during the event and that it is switched off during the dating)
