What sort of people go speed dating?

Is speed dating competitive?

Speed dating isn’t a competition, in fact you’re much more likely to hit it off with a guy or a girl you wouldn’t consider your type at a speed dating event than in a bar. Everyone gets a chance to speak to everyone else for the same amount of time. Having said that- if you make a good impression, then maybe you’ll be in the lead!

What should I wear when I go speed dating?

The most important thing is to be yourself and make a good impression, so dress in what you feel comfortable in, and represents your style. Make an effort, but don’t go overboard!

What should I talk about during the dates?

You only have around 3 minutes for each date, which can go really quickly. There are the obvious things such as age and occupation etc, but you could make yourself a memorable date by having a few interesting conversation topics you’ve already thought of.

Should I go on my own or with my friends?

It’s entirely up to you to if you want to go it alone, or in a group.

What if I meet more than one person I like?

One of the advantages of speed dating is that there’s loads of opportunity to hit it off with lots of people. The chances are that you will meet a few people you’d like to see again, and so will they. You’re free to line up as many dates as you like!
